Bedbugs...don’t be embarrassed! Every body can be their target. Even your pets.
Bedbugs can be brought to your home through vacation luggage, kids returning from college, visitors during the holidays, your workplaces, or even migration from your neighbor’s house! They are the very definition of an invasive species. In fact, 8 out of 10 hotels have bedbugs in at least one of their rooms every month. Yikes! That means you might inadvertently bring home bedbugs. Despite the name, they don’t just live in your bed. They can live in clothes, couch cushions, behind picture frames, in electrical sockets, and wherever else you can imagine! This can make it hard to completely eradicate them, especially when bedbugs can live up to 7 months without a meal in our Texas heat!
Common Treatment Types
There are many types of bedbug treatments, but not all of them are eco-friendly, or without risks! The common treatment types include: heat treatments, freeze treatments, tenting, and biological and botanical treatments.
Some companies employ the use of specialized equipment to bring the core temperature of the home up to 124 degrees Fahrenheit. Bed bugs cannot survive at temperatures that high for a sustained period of time...supposedly! There are plenty of Youtube testimonials that say otherwise.
Freeze treatments employ the use of liquid nitrogen to target specific infested areas of the home.
If the bedbug problem is extreme, tenting is sometimes used. It is a process where the entire home is covered and the house is gassed. Because the process is intensive and invasive, it can be very cost prohibitive.
Biological and Botanical treatments are eco-friendly. Green Pest Guys uses chrysanthemum flower based products to eradicate bedbug infested areas. Even if the bedbug infestation has spread beyond your bed, your house can be saved!
We clean out your bedroom drawers and put your clothes, bedding, and curtains in trash bags for you to dry or take to the laundromat. The heat will kill the bedbugs and their eggs...we recommend two cycles on high in the dryer.
Once we have cleaned out the drawers we treat every crack and crevice in the room. Because bedbugs are invasive, and crawl into every cranny, we are thorough. We remove wall plates, take picture frames off the wall, and treat in and around beds. Also in the process, and included in the price, we encase your mattress and box spring in a bedbug proof casing.
Depending on where the infestations are (if not localized to the bedroom), we will move into common living areas and treat carpets, furniture, and wherever else the bedbugs might be.
We will repeat the treatment two weeks later to ensure the bedbugs are gone. Following the two week treatment, we also leave monitoring stations that we will check during subsequent visits for signs of bedbugs.
